It is through the lens of ‘Magical Realism’ that I filter and refract the text and my research. My work is firmly grounded in a kind of reality, but I then find visual elements that heighten the magical and make a point about the ‘real world’. This juxtaposition of the natural and supernatural creates an image of the ‘Grotesque’, a world at once familiar yet strange.
